I love catalogs like this. Maybe we all do because it brings out our hidden voyeur. Not many stars were as iconic as Marlene Dietrich.
And this catalog is interesting insight into what she wore; how she lived; what she valued. There’s a French cherry dining table, a gift from Hemmingway. A cocktail shaker from the London apartment she shared with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. in 1940. Paintings. Furniture. Jewelry, Objets Verite, Porcelains, correspondence with famous people (Jean Cocteau, Cole Porter among others). Photographs by Hurell and Richee.
I don’t need to get rich with it. I don’t have the sales results) but they might still be available from Sotheby’s. The cover and first three pages are creased at the bottom. Doesn’t account for much.
